(Graphic) Jon Jones’ Nasty Toe Injury From UFC 159
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones didn’t realize at first, and neither did anyone else, but during his fight with Chael Sonnen at UFC 159 his toe nearly came right off in one of the more gruesome things we’ve seen in a post-fight interview.
The injury happened during the closing moments of the fight, as Jones torqued his big toe while trying to pummel Sonnen into submission, and if it wasn’t for a stoppage that many thought might have been premature, it seems likely Jones would have been forced to forfeit the fight.
The post-fight interview with Joe Rogan was a wild event for Jones, as he didn’t even realize what had happened until he walked over to the UFC’s commentator. By that time, the adrenaline from the fight had settled down, and Rogan wisely pulled out a stool for Jones to sit down on. The injury looked so gruesome, in fact, that it looked as if Jones was going into shock and ready to pass out as he looked down at it and tried to answer Rogan’s questions without panicking on live PPV.
Balls the size of Montana on Jones.
