20 Minutes of Greg Jackson Not Being Boring With Shinya Aoki

UFC MMA

Greg Jackson is the head honcho of one of the most popular gyms in Mixed Martial Arts, and Shinya Aoki is the baddest man to ever voluntary fall to his butt in a fight, so when the two got together for an EVOLVE Seminar in Singapore, this story was bound to happen.

Jackson is often criticized for training fighters in a way that puts on “boring” fights, however in this twenty-minute-long segment from a seminar, there’s clearly a method to the madness. There’s also an incredibly bored looking Shinya Aoki, but that’s for another time.

At 11:24 in the video, Jackson even addresses the controversy that once surrounded him for telling Georges St-Pierre not to pass guard during his fight with Dan Hardy. As Jackson explains, Mixed Martial Arts is evolving and there’s plenty of damage that can be done in the guard.

Even if you don’t like Jackson’s advice, you have to appreciate how clear he can demonstrate a point. Whether you’re just a casual MMA fan, or an aspiring fighter, there’s a lot to take from this series of newly-released videos. Part 1 of 20 can be found below.
